President & CEO's Message
Dear Friends:

It is with great pride that I have assumed the role as President and CEO of the Cedars Cancer Foundation. My sense of the strength and success of what Cedars has accomplished in more than 50 years and today, to see what a difference we make at the MUHC has been soundly affirmed. We are blessed with an extremely engaged and committed Board of Directors, Medical Advisory Committee and wonderful staff and group of volunteers that enable Cedars to assist cancer patients and their families. Our members, donors and sponsors are second- to- none and truly exemplify what it means to be philanthropic in raising much-needed funds to purchase the best state-of-the-art diagnostic oncology equipment, fund programs, cancer research, fellowships, education and of course to support our Cedars CanSupport program and Sarah’s Fund in pediatric hematology-oncology.
I am often asked why one should donate to Cedars, when there are so many worthy and deserving charities? I like to explain that Cedars is a hospital-based charity that is closest to our best doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals but especially closest to our cancer patients and their families. One’s contribution goes directly to oncology- care here at the MUHC adult and pediatric hospitals in a truly comprehensive way. The donor can then see how Cedars touches so many.
There are many ways that you can make a difference, and because we rely solely on the generosity of our donors, we are committed to making it as easy as possible for our supporters, so please donate online at www.cedars.ca. Cedars' long and rich history and legacy built by our founders and dynamic leaders over more than 50 years has now extended into the 21st century. As we partner together to build upon the strong roots of the Cedars Cancer Foundation, we must support ideas and initiatives that will allow us to be recognized for years to come as one of the most important pillars in cancer- care, research and education.
Thank you for your continued support.
With much appreciation,

Jeff J. Shamie, MPA
