Warren's '500lbs Deadlift Challenge' in support of helping cancer patient was an incredible success. Thank you to all the participants, as well as their supportive family and friends, it is truly inspiring.
During cancer treatment journey, being admitted to the hospital at times can be very difficult.
The 500 lbs Challenge is dedicated to supporting the internet & TV services of the cancer patients on the Hematology- Oncology inpatient care unit at the MUHC Glen site. As a patient, Warren considered himself fortunate to have the financial capacity to subscribe to the internet and TV, making his time in the hospital more tolerable.
Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families.
Warren’s Story
Warren was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in April 2016 with a Myeloid Sarcoma on his face. At the time of the diagnosis the overall survival rate was approximately 27%, Warren was in for the fight of his life.In late 2017, Warren now finds himself one year into remission with a desire to give back in a way that is beneficial to the day to day lives of the cancer patients that are admitted to the hospital for long periods of time.
The funds raised through this challenge aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients at the hospital by addressing the often-overlooked needs of inpatient non-medical care.
Warren and his friends are organizing a friendly competition where lifters, will deadlift either 500lbs (men) or 300lbs (women) for reps. Each lifter will raise funds to participate and there will be prize packs for the most money raised and the most reps completed.
